Revolut POS Alternative: The Best Revolut POS Alternatives for Restaurants
Is Revolut POS the right choice for restaurants?
Revolut POS is fine if all you need is to take card payments. Once you need tickets going to the kitchen, online orders, a table plan or reporting across more than one site, it runs out.
If that's where you are, these are the alternatives worth looking at.
What Revolut POS does
Revolut's POS is mostly a payment terminal with a basic sales tracker attached. You can:
- Take card payments on a card reader
- See basic transaction reports
- Do some limited stock management
It was built for small shops and service businesses. Restaurants weren't the target.
What restaurants need that Revolut POS doesn't have
| Feature | Revolut POS | What restaurants need |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen Display System | ✗ | Orders reach the kitchen on a screen, not a shouted ticket |
| Table management | ✗ | Covers, split bills and courses |
| Online ordering | ✗ | Orders through your own website and app |
| Menu management | Basic | Menus with modifiers, extras and options |
| Multi-site reporting | ✗ | Compare sales across locations |
| Loyalty and customer data | ✗ | Repeat customers and a CRM |
| AI phone ordering | ✗ | Calls answered and orders taken automatically |
| Staff management | Basic | Rotas and permissions by role |
A café taking a few card payments a day can probably get by on Revolut. A restaurant with a kitchen, a delivery offering or a second site can't.
The best Revolut POS alternatives for restaurants
1. Flipdish
Flipdish is built for restaurants, takeaways, cafés and restaurant groups with several locations. POS, payments, online ordering, kiosks and AI tools all sit in one platform, so you're not stitching separate systems together.
What you get:
- A full restaurant POS with kitchen management and order routing
- Payments built in, so there's no separate card machine contract
- Online ordering on your own website, not just through a marketplace
- Your own branded mobile app
- Self-service kiosks to cut the queue at the counter
- An AI phone agent that answers calls and takes orders
- A Kitchen Display System for each station
- A multi-site dashboard for groups and franchises
- AI marketing tools to get customers ordering again
If you're using Revolut as a payments workaround, Flipdish replaces it and covers the rest of the restaurant as well.
2. Square for Restaurants
Square has a restaurant version of its POS with table management, menu management and some online ordering.
It's a decent step up from a basic card reader and works fine for an independent restaurant. Groups with several sites, or anyone who wants a full direct ordering setup, will hit its limits.
3. Zettle by PayPal
Zettle is a card reader and basic POS for small businesses. It's roughly the same kind of product as Revolut: simple payment processing, not much built for restaurants.
If you've already outgrown Revolut, moving to Zettle is a sideways step.
4. Lightspeed Restaurant
Lightspeed is a cloud POS with proper restaurant features - table management, menu modifiers and reporting.
It's a real upgrade on Revolut. Online ordering and AI tools aren't built in, though, so you'll need extra integrations if you want customers ordering direct.
5. Epos Now
Epos Now sells cloud POS for hospitality and retail, and has a big integrations marketplace.
It's easy to get going and the price is reasonable. The catch is that if you want your POS, online ordering and kitchen screens working closely together, you'll probably be piecing that together yourself from marketplace apps.

Switching from Revolut POS
Revolut holds very little restaurant data, so there isn't much to migrate. Switching is mostly setup work.
Before you switch:
- Export any Revolut sales data you want to keep
- Build your menu in the new system
- Book in staff training - usually one or two shifts is enough
- Test the kitchen display setup before you go live
Flipdish does onboarding and implementation as part of setup. The Flipdish products overview lists everything the platform covers.
